The Office of the Vice Provost for Research has overall responsibility for facilitating the research enterprise at Duke University. The Vice Provost for Research, James N. Siedow, works closely with the Provost, his staff and the Deans on research policy. He supervises the Office of Research Support and manages the ORS budget and Instrumentation Fund. In addition, he participates in the management and allocation of research connected funds allocated by the Provost. He explores potential new areas for research and oversees campus-wide planning efforts with respect to research and research facilities. This includes working with the Technology Transfer Office to encourage and support the development and marketing of Duke’s intellectual property.
